Make a statement with this unique one of a kind Norse amulet that I created from high fire clay, carved, dried and fired the hammer in the kiln, glazed it, fired it once again. The final touch was painting the details over with real gold and firing it for a third time.
The hammer measures 1-1/2" long by 1" wide by 3/16 - 1/4" thick (40mm x 26mm x 4-7mm) and is strung unto an adjustable 2mm thick black Hemp cord.
**only one pendant like this exists, every creation I make is different. You will always receive what is pictured. Intensity of colour may vary from PC monitor to smartphone**
Mjolnir or Thor's Hammer:
An ancient Norse symbol, a stylized representation of the legendary magical weapon of the Norse God Thor. “Mjolnir” means “lightning,” and symbolized the God’s power over Thunder and Lightning. The Hammer Mjolnir was said to always return after it had been thrown.
The Thor’s Hammer amulet was worn frequently by believers as a symbol of protection- a practice so popular it continued even after most of the Norse population had converted to Christianity. In modern times, is often used as an emblem of recognition for members of the Asatru faith, and as a symbol of Norse heritage.
A later form of the Mjolnir is called the Wolf’s Cross, or Dragon’s Cross, and was associated with early Norse Christianity.
