Beautiful serene-sounding Terra Cotta pottery chime carved with the Zia solar symbol. Pottery chimes sound very much like wooden chimes when a breeze hits them.
I hand rolled the cylinder and carved it on two sides with the Zia sun then fashioned the rest of the chime from rich high fire Terra Cotta clay, fired the pieces and glazed them on one side only so that when it rains, the rich red colour of the clay will be highlighted!
Decorated with Swarovski crystal glass beads and other glass beads, amethyst chips and Picasso Jasper beads.
Total length from top of hook to bottom is 16-1/2" long (42 cm), the width is about 3" across. The hook is made of chainmail rings and steel.
**Only one model has been made, unique creation, what you see in the photo is what you will receive. Colour will vary in intensity from PC monitor to smartphone screen.**
About the Zia Pueblo Sun Symbol:
"Zia" means sun, and is also the name of the symbol. Today it is the sole symbol on the flag of the State of New Mexico, but the symbol is very old- it is found on pottery, art, and other artifacts of the Zia Pueblo tribes of New Mexico. The number four is sacred to the Zia Indians, and this emblem embodies this number as the powers of nature- the sun, the four directions, seasons, and the ages of man.
