A reproduction of the 4,000 year old terracotta relief of a Babylonian goddess, nick-named 'The Queen of the Night' and hailed as one of the most important artworks from ancient Mesopotamia. The winged, naked figure wears the horned headdress of Mesopotamian deities and holds symbols of divinity: the rod and ring of justice. Her feet are talons which rest on lions and two owls suggest that she is connected with the underworld. Some schools of thought believe that she could be the goddess Ishtar, the Mesopotamian goddess of sexual love and war, or Ishtar's sister and rival, the goddess Ereshkigal who ruled over the Underworld, or the demoness Lilitu, known as Lilith in the Bible.

One-of-a-kind unique ceramic tiles. I handmade these tiles from high-fire clay, hand cut and designed. Air dried and fired, glazed and fired again.

The tiles average approximately 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 1/4" thick (9cm x 14cm x 7mm). The backs are unglazed and ready to install in a tiling project or you can request a hook attached to the back to hang at checkout.

**These tiles are hand-cut, handmade and not perfect copies, all vary in millimetres in thickness and size.*
